The Corona-Norco Unified School District announced this week that it has been selected by the School Safety Advocacy Council to receive the 2015 Exemplary School Safety Initiative Award for it’s Project Safety Net Program.

Project Safety Net was launched in 2013 under the leadership of Associate Superintendent of Instructional Support, Michael Cobarrubias and serves over 53,000 students and their families in the Corona-Norco district.  The overarching goal of Project Safety Net is to identify and anticipate safety concerns and systematically address each concern through the application of best practices and strategic partnerships between the district, local authorities, parents, students and other community organizations.  The “net” covers everything from disaster preparedness and general emergency situations to gang intervention, campus safety, suicide prevention and more.

The district will be honored with the award on July 27, 2015 at the National School Safety Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  You can learn more about Project Safety Net here
