Coffin Creek to Reopen for It’s Eighth Year of Fears

After a year of uncertainty, it has finally been confirmed that Coffin Creek Asylum, one of the longest running haunted attractions in Corona, will be open for the 2016 Halloween season.

Coffin Creek, along with four other haunts that made up Crossroads Haunted Village, closed in 2015 after the passing of Crossroads Group CEO Tom Wilson.  Following a year of uncertainty and legal woes, Coffin Creek owner Gary Shireman will re-open with three haunts for 2016 calling it “a year of rebuilding.”

No longer under the monicker of Crossroads Haunted Village, this year’s event will include the Haunted Asylum at Coffin Creek along with the all new for 2016 Catacombs of Guasti Cemetery and Prado Witch Trail.  Visitors will also be able to browse wares from the Dark Shadow Market Place

The Coffin Creek experience will be familiar for those who attended in 2014, but Shireman assures us that they’ve stirred up a few new scares to keep things fresh.  Legend has it, this 1930’s asylum was discovered after the great Southern California flood of 1938, visitors will find that the patients weren’t the only ones at the asylum who were sick in the head.

Catacombs of Guasti Cemetery will feel familiar to those who have attended past events, as it was built upon the foundations of James Brown’s Chambers of the Mausoleum, which was bought out by Shireman for the 2016 haunt.  Unlike Chambers, Catacombs of Guasti Cemetery will not be a guided tour, which Shireman says will help reduce wait times, which were a problem for the attraction in the past.  It has also been revamped to create a new experience for visitors.

After a year of uncontrolled growth at the park, Shireman says the creepiest experience for 2016 will be the Prado Witch Trail. Leveraging the natural surroundings of Crossroads Riverview Park this fully immersive experience will take visitors through all new trails of terror.

Coffin Creek is located at Crossroads Riverview Park (14600 Baron Dr., Corona) and will be open on select dates in October beginning on October 14. A full list of dates and times, along with ticket information can be found on the Coffin Creek website.  Want to attend the event for free?  We’re giving away three pairs of Haunt Combo tickets that will get you into all three of this years haunts.  Simply enter by using the giveaway app below.  Winners will be announced on our Facebook page, Twitter, and here on Monday, October 10.
