The Corona Historic Preservation Society is inviting the community to join a free, fun and fascinating look back at the history of the Corona Fire Department with a panel led by retired firefighters.
Formed in 1898 as a “bucket brigade,” this event will explore the 120-year existence of the Corona Fire Department (CFD). During the discussion, CFD retiree Fred Par will share a slideshow overview of the department’s history. Panelists Ralph Davis, Robert German, Richard Hernandez, and Steve Vansant will discuss the 1960’s and 1970’s when citizens voted to modernize the one station department and build the foundation for shaping the department for years to come. The event will also feature a number of department artifacts that will be on display for attendees to view.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 10 AM in the Community Room of the Historic Civic Center (815 W 6th Street, Corona). After the discussion, light refreshments will be served. There will also be time to meet and greet other attendees as well as chat with the four panelists.
Can’t make it to the panel discussion? The event will be professionally recorded and made available online at the Corona Historic Preservation Society’s YouTube Channel.
